About Basis
We think a ledgershould be legible.
Every finance team we came from had the same problem: the money had moved, and nobody could explain how without opening four systems and a spreadsheet. Basis exists so that question has one answer.
Why teams move their treasury
Built by the peoplewho had to reconcile it.
Basis started inside a marketplace finance team that closed every month by hand. We rebuilt the settlement layer we wanted: one ledger of record, balances that hold in 24 currencies, and a payout engine that tells you why a transfer is late before support does.
- Client funds held 1:1 at partner banks, reconciled nightly
- A named implementation engineer through your first close
Platforms settling on Basis
Ledger API uptime, 12-month
A settlement layer should let a controller answer any question about any movement of money without asking an engineer to run a query first.
How we got here
Six years of closing the books.
Built inside a marketplace
Two of us ran finance operations at a marketplace that closed every month by hand. We wrote the first ledger to stop doing that, for ourselves.
The first external platform
A payroll company asked whether they could use it. We rebuilt the payout engine for multi-entity flows and applied for our first money licence.
Local rails, 24 currencies
Direct rail access replaced correspondent banking on the eight corridors our customers used most. Settlement times fell from days to seconds.
SOC 2 and 380 platforms
Type II attestation, PCI DSS Level 1, and a ledger of record closing 4.1 million payouts a month across 38 markets.
Who you will work with
Four people who have closed a month under pressure.
